100 p.c. Balaton – the wines from Homola

  • April 28, 2018

Some of the Dragon sailors who entered the Worlds and Europeans last year have already had the chance to taste the wines of the Homola vineyard. They produce their wines in Csopak, a typical terroir of Northern Balaton. As one of the Homola Brothers, Mr Laszlo Homola is a Dragon sailor himself, it was no question that we feature their wines at the European Championship in Balatonfüred.

Paloznak, Tihany, and Alsóörs: today, Homola Pincészet cultivates 15 acres of land, some of the best vineyards of the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region. This year the winery targeted the sale of 60,000 bottles, which would soon be raised to 100,000 bottles. Core production comes from 4 large vineyards: the Gölyemál in Alsóörs, the Lapi Vineyard in Tihany, and the Sáfránykert and Hajnóczy vineyards in Paloznak.

Homola Pincészet has been making wine in Paloznak and its neighbourhood since 2009.

Homola wines are the result of joint creative efforts by the owner of the winery, Szabolcs Homola, and the head winemaker, Attila Homonna, who aim at bringing the best out of Lake Balaton’s vineyards.

Homola Pincészet also prides itself in its 100% wine family (100% Balaton, 100% Rizling and 100% Habzó Rozé), which represents a fresher and lighter reductive approach, radiating Balaton-style.

You can taste the whole range of Homola wines on Wednesday, May 30th after the races. If you like them, do not miss the chance to make a visit to them, on their Wine Terrace you can have fantastic dishes, too.
